As for many families in and around the Chiefland area the annual Chiefland Watermelon Festival has been a personal family favorite for our family for many years, even more so now that our daughter, Audrey, is 5 years old and is able to enjoy all of the fun activities, parade, and excitement the festival has to offer. For our first print issue which will be available later this week, we thought it a fitting scenario to distribute our June 2013 issue at our booth at this year’s 59th Annual Chiefland Watermelon Festival.

Levy Living's June CoverIncluded in the print issue is a feature story on the festival that you will enjoy reading. We were able to sit down with Karen Tillis and get her perspective on the festival’s history and some of her fond memories.

A few weeks ago we posted a handful of older photos shared with us from the Chiefland Woman’s Club on our Facebook Fan Page. We’ve added a gallery below of all the photos shared with us for you to enjoy, and if you’re a Chiefland local, perhaps you can help identify those in the photos. Just use the comment section at the bottom of this page to post your comments.

We hope to see you out and about at this year’s festival. Be sure to stop by our booth at the festival and pick up your free copy of our print issue!

In Who’s-in-the-photo-04, Eldean Hagans (maiden, Brooks) is the red head in the front row second from the right in the pink strapless dress. I don’t recall the year, but she won and she was my girlfriend.

In Who’s-in-the-photo-03, the blonde beauty in the red dress is Glenda Colson.
