Calling all ropers! There’s a special event coming this weekend to Gilchrist County. The first annual Lasso for Little Ones event will be this Saturday, October 11, 2014 from 6 until 10 pm at the Trenton FFA Arena. The Lasso for Little Ones event will include a wonderful dinner, live music, door prizes, and a goat roping competition.
Owners of local Anvil G Ranch, Katrina Gomez and husband Robert, have a special connection to both the Florida Neonatal Neurological Network (also known as FN3) and the March of Dimes. Their son was born premature at 29 weeks and weighed only 2 pounds. Like many infants in similar circumstances, he had trouble breathing on his own and it took great care from the nursing staff, medical know-how, and machines to help him through that difficult period. Katrina and Robert are very thankful for the progress of their now-thriving little boy, and while the challenges of his premature birth have been overcome, Katrina is very aware that many infants in this situation aren’t so lucky.
“Many people who know our son now would never believe the conditions under which he was born,” explains Katrina. “This is why we want to give back to Dr. Weiss’s organization, FN3, and our local March of Dimes NICU support group for all the wonderful things they do.” In reflection, Katrina and Robert decided to give back by helping raise money for both the Florida Neonatal Neurological Network and the March of Dimes through the first annual Lasso for Little Ones event. Won’t you join them?
